Young Alumni - Featured Frog

preston_oliver NAME & GRADUATION YEAR:
Preston Oliver, 2014

WHO YOU ARE:
I am a born and bred Texan, now deep in SEC country, and a proud Horned Frog, who strives to be the change that I wish to see in the world by positively impacting those around me through my words and actions each day.

BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT SINCE GRADUATION:
After graduation, I was blessed with the opportunity to serve as a Fulbright Scholar teaching English in Macau at a local university. During the year, I was also able to fill up my passport by visiting 11 other countries in Asia and Oceania.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A TCU ALUMNI:
Seeing the incredible advancements that TCU makes every year in all aspects of the university and proudly thinking to myself, “there is no way I would get into this school if I applied today.”

FAVORITE MEMORY WHILE IN SCHOOL AT TCU:
It’s hard to beat the amazing memory of travelling to California with some of my closest friends to watch the Frogs win the Rose Bowl game during my freshman year, but a close second would be taking a group of incoming freshmen to Seville, Spain for their Frog Camp experience.

WHERE CAN YOU BE FOUND ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON:
Trying to find a place to watch the TCU game in my new home of Nashville, Tennessee.

WHERE CAN WE FIND, FOLLOW AND FRIEND YOU (OR YOUR COMPANY)?
Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Raised in Argyle and Dallas, Texas, I graduated from TCU in 2014 with a degree in Finance. At TCU I was involved in various organizations including Frog Camp, the Neeley Fellows Program, the Educational Investment Fund and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Not quite ready to put on a suit and tie every day, I deferred my job offer and went abroad to teach English for a year in Macau, a special administrative region of China, through the Fulbright Program. Though challenging in many ways, this experience taught me to embrace the differences that exist in the world around me in order to grow as an individual and leader, while also instilling in me an admiration for the teaching profession and a greater appreciation for this wonderful country in which we live. Attempting to suppress the travel bug as much as I can, I now work at VMG Health, a healthcare valuation firm, in Nashville, Tennessee, but try to come back to Texas and TCU every opportunity that I get.
