NAME & GRADUATION YEAR:
Ashley Alaniz-Moyer ‘07
Major:
Communication Studies Major
WHO YOU ARE:
My name is Ashley Alaniz-Moyer '09. I have the pleasure in serving as the Executive Director of the Hispanic Scholarship Consortium (HSC). We support college Hispanics with a network of support including scholarships, leadership development and mentoring relationships. Outside of work, I helped coordinate the first Central Texas College Signing Day, serve as Co-President of the TCU Alumni Austin Chapter, and recently was named to the Mayor's Task Force on Institutional Racism & Systemic Inequities.
BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT SINCE GRADUATION:
My biggest accomplishment since graduation is earning my MBA at Concordia University Texas in Austin. I am passionate about education and the power it has to transform your world. Education is always at the center of my personal and professional commitments. Recently, I was recognized as the Rising Star from the Austin Business Journal as part of their Profiles in Power and Central Texas Women of Influence awards. I was very humbled to receive this special recognition.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A TCU ALUMNI:
My favorite thing about TCU is the network of alumni. When I wear a TCU shirt in public, I love that fellow alumni will stop me to ask what year I graduated or a parent will ask me about my experiences as a student because their child wants to attend TCU. Plus all the purple birthday & Christmas presents are nice since purple has been my favorite color long before attending TCU!
FAVORITE MEMORY WHILE IN SCHOOL AT TCU:
As a member of the TCU LEAPS planning committee my sophomore through senior year, many of my best memories involve the work surrounding TCU's one-day service event. However, my favorite memory was being able to host the morning send-off in the brand new Campus Commons. It was the perfect backdrop to my final year at TCU.
WHERE CAN YOU BE FOUND ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON:
If its the fall, you can find me hosting a TCU Football watch party for the Austin Alumni Chapter. My husband, Billy Moyer, and I have also had the opportunity to travel quite a bit in the last year. Often on a Saturday, you'll find us in a new city. But if we're home in Austin, I'm most likely relaxing at home preparing for a new week. I'm kind of obsessed with nail art and can spend hours at home trying to mimic something I saw on Pinterest.
