NAME & GRADUATION YEAR:
Glenton Richards – December '06
WHO YOU ARE:
A brother, a son, a writer, and a dreamer.
BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT SINCE GRADUATION:
I have two accomplishments that I'm really proud of actually. The first is getting hired on the TV show FARGO (on FX) as the Writers Assistant and Script Coordinator – both of which are really tough jobs to get in this industry. Since our show has aired we've gone on to win numerous awards including 3 Emmys and 2 Golden Globes.
The second would probably be writing a novel. Although I still have a ways to go before it's published, just finishing a draft of a 400+ page novel is something that I'm personally really proud of.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A TCU ALUMNI:
Probably getting to know so many TCU alums in the LA area! I got a chance to serve as the TCU LA alumni president for a few years and it was really cool getting a chance to not only meet new graduates in LA area, but also getting to know alums that have lived in the LA and SoCal area for years!
FAVORITE MEMORY WHILE IN SCHOOL AT TCU:
One of my favorite memories while at TCU was helping to start up the Student Filmmakers Association. As a film major, we had a lot of opportunities in class to learn about the different aspects of film and TV making, but we didn't have many opportunities to do that outside of class. So myself and a group of other students got together and started up the SFA to try and make short films.
I was the Treasurer the first year and worked with the other board members and the Student Government to try and get funding for our group. We only got a few hundred dollars, but when you're a broke college student every dollar helps. So from there we started creating budgets and writing scripts and casting, and eventually we were able to get a few short films of various genres made and screened on campus. But almost as cool as that is the fact that the Student Filmmakers Association still continues on campus to this day!
WHERE CAN YOU BE FOUND ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON:
In front of my laptop – writing of course. :)

I'm a Texas native who was born in Houston and raised in Dallas. After graduating high school I was accepted to TCU where I began studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (as I really liked working with computers and was pretty good at math and science). After about a year though I realized that I wasn't as passionate about working in that field as I thought I would be, so I switched to Radio, TV, and Film and quickly fell in love with writing. I added English as a minor where I worked to grow and develop even more as a writer.
After graduating I packed up and moved out to LA, without a job lined up and only knowing a handful of people in the city. My first job was about as far from glamorous as you could get: I was a night security guard at a local mall. I used the daytime to not only keep working on my writing but also look for any TV or film gig I could find. Then within a few months I had landed a gig working on HEROES (on NBC) as a Production Assistant!
After a couple years of working in production, I decided to check out the business side of the entertainment biz and work at a talent agency. I worked at Creative Artists Agency where I not only got to interact with numerous celebrities but I also learned a ton of how the business worked from an agent's perspective.
From CAA I was lucky enough to land a gig as an executive assistant for two different high profile writers and then from there land a job working on the hit miniseries FARGO where I've gone on to learn even more about the industry. Now I hope to use what I've learned to springboard into becoming a TV writer myself and hopefully one day create my own TV show.
