Thanks to our resident mixologist Carolyn Crouch Phillips '09 she's curated our signature cocktail (and mocktail option) for the #TCUintheHouse Party - "The 1873". Here's the recipe:
"The 1873" Cocktail Recipe:
To make the simple syrup: In a saucepan, heat equal parts sugar and water (2 cups of water and add in 1 ½ cups of sugar for a slightly less sweet mix). Stir and take off the heat once it dissolves. Steep your choice of spice or flavoring for 10-20 minutes, then strain the mixture. A favorite flavor to add to simple syrup is dried hibiscus tea leaves.
To make "The 1873": Pour two parts gin, one part lime juice, and one part simple syrup into a glass or pitcher with your ice, shake or stir to incorporate. Pour into your serving glasses, top with Topo Chico (or your choice of sparkling water or tonic), garnish with blackberries, and a lime wedge. For a mocktail version, just swap the Topo Chico for the gin. Enjoy!
