In January 2026, the Director of TCU's Intercultural Center and Student Identity & Engagement, Dr. Timeka Gordon, traveled to the Motherland to participate in the chartering of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.'s first chapter in Ghana.
Hear her powerful testimony at the TCU Black Alumni Alliance's 9th annual Purple, Black, and White, as she prepares to take students to Ghana in Spring 2027 to fulfill TCU's mission:

"I came to Ghana thinking I was coming to see a place. Instead, the place saw me.
It looked at me in the eyes of women who call me sister, in the laughter of children who carry joy like inheritance, and in the soil that remembers my name before I spoke it aloud...
...And so here, in Ghana, with all this history pressing against my ribs, I wrote:
I am the daughter of the ones who lived.
I am the testimony of captured breath.
I am the memory of the Atlantic refusing to forget.
My body is the archive. My bones are the proof.
My joy is the revolt they never planned for.
My return is the prophecy fulfilled."
